Documents is a word processor with an editor of its own: letters, minutes, reports and long texts, saved on your own device. Word and ODT files open and save back.

What the app does today

Writing and layout

Styles for title, headings 1–6, quote and code
Lists with nine levels, numbering such as 1.1, a) or I.
Tab stops with leaders, line spacing “at least” and “exactly”
Format painter and AutoFormat as you type
Show formatting marks (⌘8)

Tables, images, pages

Tables with merged cells, borders, shading and row height
Images in the text, in table cells, footnotes, headers and footers
Page view and continuous view, keep paragraphs together
Footnotes, table of contents, internal and external links

Reviewing

Comments with replies
Track changes: accept or reject, one by one or all at once
System spell check with your own dictionary
Navigator: drag sections, promote and demote them
Version history: view and restore earlier states
Word count for the selection and the document

Templates and output

DIN 5008 letter, report, minutes, CV, your own templates
Export to DOCX, ODT, Markdown, HTML, text and PDF with bookmarks
Print through the system dialog

How it connects

Inserts data published by Sheets, Reports and Forms as a table or chart and refreshes it when you choose.
Finished texts go to Paperwork as PDF or to Mail as an attachment.
The same in every app: command search with ⌘K, German and English, automatic saving on your device.
